Forget branded watches and strap on a kinetic art timepiece instead. The brainchild of Singapore-based design studio Humism, these mesmerizing works of art also function as sleek arm candy — but seriously, we’ve never been so fascinated watching the seconds tick by.
And it seems our fellow fashionistas/art enthusiasts/watch collectors agree. After Humism’s Kickstarter campaign launched on Feb. 27, the project immediately reached its S$10,000 goal in 30 minutes and doubled it in an hour. As of writing, it has more than S$88,000 pledged, with 20 days more to go till the deadline of Mar. 30.

Touting itself as an “independent watch design studio that reimagines time”, the brand was inspired by the kinetic art movement to create its automatic timepieces. Its debut collection — a year in the making — features three designs, each one made with materials like sapphire crystal and Italian vegetable-tanned leather.
To make you feel better about spending your money, five percent of Humism’s sales will go to The Red Pencil, a non-profit organization that uses art therapy to help survivors of emotional trauma.
Early bird prices start at US$245 (S$322).
