Listen to a different side of local music at free gigs curated by four producers

Keep an ear out for your new favourite act at Hello Producers, a series that highlights homegrown talents curated by four guest producers who’ve each championed local music in their own ways. From hip hop to classical to experimental, the gigs are spread out through the week — and they’re all free.

Indie label The.XS Collective’s line-up include Maddie & The UrbanSensation, Mean and Young. For Lester Kong of pop-rock classical quartet VOX, his picks are Neil Chua, Alvin Wong, Yuan Ting, AMPER Quartet and, of course, VOX. Mark Wong of indie label Ujikaji offers up a selection that includes Dharma, Jordan Johari Rais & Imran Abdul Rashid, Bani Haykal & Rachel Chen, and Li Shuen. Tim De Cotta, who’s worked with artists like Michaela Therese, has chosen names like Audrey 10k, NAztyKeys, Kim Eun Hyung, Lisa Haryono, Charlie Blouse and Bob Shiah.

It’s a mish mash of genres, for sure. But that just means there’ll be something here for even the pickiest of listeners to rave about.

Hello Producers is from May 9-12 & 23-26, various times at Esplanade Concourse, 1 Esplanade Dr. Free.
