With just a little more than two weeks to the actual event, Laneway Festival Singapore provided their last surprise with four more acts in the final line-up announcement for the 2017 mega-soirée at Gardens By The Bay.
Adding a trippy element to the festivities is none other than acclaimed Australian dudes King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. The award-winning psych-rock outfit only started out in 2010, but in the span of six years, they’ve put out eight full-length albums, with their latest — the infinitely loopy Nonagon Infinity — appearing in multiple Best of the Year lists in 2016.
Adhering to the promise of advocating Asian acts, Laneway Festival Singapore also added the likes of Malaysia’s electronica darling Froya to the fray. Already a veteran in the Malaysian music scene, the former indie-folk singer-songwriter has since moved on to more digital pastures with synth-laden grooves and electronic blips — accompanied by her distinctive croons, of course.
On the dancier side of things, our very own A/K/A Sounds (from the Attagirl! collective) and beloved DJ duo Poptart will be joining the festival line-up as well, presumably in the air-conditioned White Room stage. Amanda Keisha Ang will take audiences through her usual medley of house, hip-hop and jungle mixes, while for Poptart, well, it’ll be their trademark indie-rock dance party.
