At the tender age of 14, an English girl who goes by the name of Birdy was already breaking our hearts with a gentle cover of Bon Iver’s already fragile classic ‘Skinny Love’.
At the age when we were worrying about acne, Birdy aka Jasmine Lucilla Elizabeth Jennifer van den Bogaerde (no really, that’s her name) had already garnered millions of views on her YouTube page. And she’s the one to thank for noobs who think that Bon Iver’s the one doing a cover of the song.

Now all grown up and a singer-songwriter of her own right, Birdy has since garnered multiple awards and nominations, worked with multiple bands, contributed to multiple soundtracks, as well as released three albums. Her latest — Beautiful Lies — was just released in March was received warmly by critics, all of whom have noted on how she’s found new clarity and determination in her sound.

Singapore will soon get to experience her autumnal tunes live when she drops by Suntec City soon for a concert, courtesy of The Gathering. Birdy will be making her Singapore debut on Aug 2, and it’ll be the only stop in Southeast Asia too. Tickets are on sale online through APACTix from $88 onwards — more details available on The Gathering’s Facebook page.
