The theme last year was Marvel superheroes, with the likes of Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, and The Hulk coming to life on the shores of Siloso Beach for Sentosa Sandsation. This time, the annual event takes the Star Wars track in a collaboration with Disney, crafting 20 themed sand sculptures by artists, featuring familiar characters such as Yoda, Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Boba Fett, Kylo Ren, and more.
It’s the first of a three-year partnership between Sentosa and Disney, and fringe activities include free daily sand sculpting workshops and movie screenings, an international sand sculpting competition that’ll be held until Sept 2, and merch like glow-in-the-dark tees and customizable totes exclusive to the event.
Oh, and since it’s the school holidays, all Singapore residents will get free admission to the island for the duration of the festival. The actual grounds are at Siloso Point, which is a little ways off from Beach Station, but there’ll be a daily shuttle running every 15 minutes if you’re not inclined to walk under the hot sun.
