UPDATE: According to Ikea Singapore’s PR team, the online store officially went live on Nov 6.
Say goodbye to the days of browsing through the Ikea website, hoping and wishing you could magically make ‘Add to Cart’ and ‘Checkout’ buttons appear. Online shopping’s about to get a whole lot better, thanks to news of Ikea Singapore finally launching its online store in October.
That means for those of you who don’t live around the Tampines or Queenstown area, soon you won’t have to leave the comfort of your home to have it furnished by the Swedish furniture giant. Oh, the joys of online retail therapy.
The retailer told Marketing Interactive on Wednesday that it will first launch its e-commerce platform in Singapore in the next two weeks, followed by Malaysia before next year. “We’re currently in a testing phase in Singapore as we want to provide a quality experience for our customers,” an Ikea spokesperson explained.
Indeed, if you click on Ikea Singapore’s website, you’ll find new “Buy Online” buttons that allow you to purchase certain items. Seems like the trial phase works pretty well.

According to The Straits Times, the company hasn’t revealed any details of the actual launch date or the range of the online catalogue selection yet. But still, we wouldn’t mind popping by either store once in a while just for those chicken wings. Or Swedish meatballs. Or hot dogs. Or ice cream cones.
