Local lifestyle brand IUIGA is a pretty new-to-Singapore brand, launched last year featuring Muji-style minimalist homeware items tagged at lower prices. Apparently, it keeps things affordable by sourcing straight from brand manufacturers, eliminating the “middlemen mark-ups.”

The online-only retailer sells everything from furniture and bed linen to cookware and food storage containers to bathroom accessories and home electronics — it also dabbles in travel accessories and apparel for men and women.

For those who prefer to get a feel for their homeware before making a purchase, IUIGA has just launched its first long-term pop-up store at SingPost Centre. So for the next six months, the space will spotlight its bestsellers and offer a peek at its upcoming furniture range. Shopping here is simple enough, especially for those of you who are into online retail therapy: Log in to the store’s Wi-Fi (it’s free), scan the QR code of the products you want, and add ’em to your online cart.

Other activities hosted at the space include workshops and lunchtime or weekend events.

As to “why Paya Lebar,” the brand’s consumer data reportedly showed that 63 percent of its customers live in the East. Interesting.

Anyway, if you’re shopping online and you fall short of meeting the minimum spending of $88 to get free delivery, you can swing by the store to pick up your order. Or make an exchange here if you change your mind about your purchase.

In case you’re wondering why the name sounds so familiar, perhaps it’s because IUIGA recently made headlines for a rather controversial move on its part in attempting to pay homage to the life and legacy of Singapore’s last polar bear Inuka, who was put down last month. Y’know, the whole “naming a white porcelain teapot after the animal” that was deemed an insensitive marketing stunt and followed by the brand’s apology, promising to donate all proceeds from the product line to Polar Bears International.

That storm has pretty much blown over by now, so maybe it’s time to give IUIGA another chance.
