Now that we’re approaching the end of the year, it’s time to unleash your inner terror and throw on your most extravagant (or ridiculous) costumes to celebrate all the things that go bump in the night.

What are we talking about? Halloween, of course. The scare fest that’s celebrated with wacky outfits, spooky shenanigans and hair-raising horrors. So tune in for the best places to get your freak on with our list of wicked parties, bewitched feasts, and terrifying scare zones.

Carnival of the Absurd

The hot new night spot beside Pan Pacific Hotel hosts its first Halloween bash with a line-up of menacing ringmasters and freaky ballerina dolls for an all-immersive creepy circus vibe.

Oct 28, 9pm-6am at Lulu’s Lounge. $30.

Castle Harding

Pop over to Dempsey for The White Rabbit’s annual Halloween shindig, which will transport you back to the Middle Ages, when dragons, demons, and all kinds of sorcery lurk within the gates of “Castle Harding”.

Oct 28, 10:30pm-2am at The White Rabbit. Free.

CÉ LA VI Halloween x Cirque Le Soir

The circus of depravity arrives at the sky-high lounge once again for a merrymaking night of sword swallowers, strange clowns, freaky contortionists and more — all set to the backdrop of beats by resident DJs.

Oct 28, 10pm-late at CÉ LA VI. $48 online, includes one drink; ticket price to increase at the door.

Chillin’ Like A Villain Halloween Crawl

Do Halloween the chill way — by bar hopping across four watering holes in the Boat Quay and Clarke Quay area with fellow party-goers. The party bus will take you to each pub for complimentary shots, one-for-one drink deals, and free entry into a mystery night club, so throw on your best uniform of evil for a crazy night out.

Oct 28, 7:30pm-late, meet at Fat Pigeon Statue, UOB Plaza. $50.

Creepin’ it Real

Photo: W Singapore – Sentosa Cove

The nightmarish pool party makes a comeback with beats by Attagirl! and a three-hour free-flow at the bar. Plus, you’ll get twice the horror this year with an actual haunted bus — make it out alive, and you may win prizes like drink coupons, dining vouchers and a one night stay at the (not haunted) hotel.

Other scary surprises include a zombie apocalypse virtual reality experience, a trick or treat trivia booth, a tarot card reader, and a face paint corner with a 3D photo wall.

Oct 28, 4pm-1opm at W Singapore — Sentosa Cove, Wet Deck. $69 for all-you-can drink from 4pm-7pm.

Down The Twisted Rabbit Hole

Photo: Bar Rouge Singapore/Facebook

In collaboration with the Bacardi House Party series, Bar Rouge’s first Halloween in Singapore takes you on a deep, dark spiral down the rabbit hole into a sinister wonderland, with Alice (now known as the Witch of Horrorland), the Grim Reaper (formerly the White Rabbit), and the Maddest Hatter.

Dress to theme and get free entry, and the first 50 guests each night will receive a suspicious-looking “Drink Me” potion.

Oct 27-28, 8pm-late at Bar Rouge, Swissôtel The Stamford. $25 after 10:30pm, includes one drink.

Get Butchered

Another new bar throwing its first Halloween shindig, this cashless club gives kiasu Singaporeans the favored three-in-one treatment with three bone-chilling attractions under its one roof.

Themed spaces include The Chop Shop, Slaughter House, and the Cold Room — none of which sound remotely like happy places. But if you come in full costume before 10pm, at least you’ll get free entry.

Oct 28, 7pm-4am at Get Juiced. $25 for party-goers not in costume, includes one drink.

Halloween Horror Nights 7

The iconic scare fest returns for a “Seven Deadlier Sins” experience with five haunted houses, two killer shows, two scare zones, and a new zombie laser tag game where you can actually (gasp) kill the undead.

Until Oct 29, selected nights from 7:30pm at Universal Studios Singapore. $68.

Hell Gates Halloween

Step into the Gates of Hell at Clarke Quay — if you dare — and dance the night away to EDM, house and Top 40s beats by DJ Katch.

Oct 28, 10pm-late at VLV. $30, includes one drink.

Horror Haunt: School of Horrors

Solve the mystery of the death of an innocent school girl at this school-themed horror haunt, where students have been experiencing her spirit crying in the hallways and creepily tapping their shoulders at corridors. The first 75 per day who can find the answer to the unnatural death will each win a Cathay Cineplexes movie voucher.

Oct 19-22, 6pm-10pm at external atrium of The Cathay; Oct 26-29, 6pm-10pm at B1, Cathay Cineleisure Orchard. $10.

Monster Bash

Camp Kilo gets freaky with creepy carnival games like Bobbing For Apples, Tombstone Toss, and Guess The Number of Candy, as well as a best dressed competition with a $500 cash prize up for grabs.

Oct 29, 5pm-midnight at Camp Kilo Charcoal Club. Free.

Singapore Halloween Festival 2017

Panic in the Park (those butchered arms are just unsettling). Photo: Singapore Halloween Festival

With such an unimaginative event name, you know this one’s gonna be a family-friendly fest that’s tame enough for little ones.

So if you’re afraid of the dark or you still look under your bed for monsters, check out the activities here, which include a zombie maze challenge, carnival games, supernatural stories, a dance party, and a fun 5km run called Panic in the Park at Wild Wild Wet.

Nov 4-5, 10am-late at Downtown East. One-day pass $45 for adults, $30 for children; two-day pass $70 for adults, $50 for children; VIP pass $388.

Sub-Lime Halloween Feast

Before you dive into the buffet, a word of warning: you may never look at food the same way again. So proceed with caution, cause the restaurant will be decked out in eerie trappings and devilish servers dressed up as some of the worst villains in pop culture.

As for the spread, expect a selection of ominously-named items such as Cheese Graveyard (fine cheese), Witches Pot of Laksa (lobster laksa), and Freddy Pasta (squid ink pasta), alongside desserts like Dirt Mud Worms (a chocolate dish), Death by Berries (berries choux), and Bloody Waterfall (strawberry-flavored chocolate).

Oct 28-29, 6:30pm-10:30pm at Lime, Parkroyal on Pickering. Adults $80, includes free-flow juices, soft drinks, coffees and teas; children $40, includes free-flow juices and soft drinks.

The 1919 Ghost Ship

Dress in your freakiest threads for a complimentary bloody eye drop shot, then snack on a skull pizza platter paired with a “Hysterical Trio” of toxic shots. And if you’re feeling brave (from all that alcohol), take on the Walk the Plank challenge by downing five shots and lager beer in 19.19 seconds.

Oct 27, 5pm-midnight at 1919 Waterboat House.

The Asylum

Walk through the sinister corridors of the Asylum and, if you make it out in one piece, join the masses on the dance floor (because there’s strength in numbers).

Oct 27-28, 10pm-late at Kilo Lounge. $50, includes one bloody cocktail.

The Laboratorium of Horror

The mother of all nightclubs throws the most monstrous bashes, so if you’re keen to emerge from the petrifying party permanently scarred (or if you’d like to know what insomnia feels like), check out Zouk’s Laboratorium of Horror.

It’s basically your mad scientist nightmare come true, complete with a diabolical scientist and his lab full of gruesome body parts and grisly organs. If you can stomach all that, get dressed up for free entry (for the first 100) and cross your fingers for prizes like a pair of tickets to Athens and a couples’ massage.

Oct 28, 9pm-4am at Zouk. $55, includes entry to all outlets and one drink.

The Last House on Emily Hill

Photo: Kult Studio & Gallery

If you’re brave enough to make the trek up to Emily Hill’s oldest colonial house, well then, you’ve got a night of horrors waiting for you. Besides boozy brews for bloodthirsty party-goers, there’ll be tunes by DJ Shellsuit and Stew Bamrah.

And for the ultimate skin-crawling experience, step through a maze — it only admits one person at a time — into a realm where all your phobias and blood-curdling old wives’ tales come alive.

Oct 27, 7pm-11pm at kult kafe, Emily Hill. $13 online; $15 at the door, includes one drink.

The Night Call

Enter the hospital from hell, as the world’s highest al fresco bar admits patients into its chilling wards, with Blood Bag cocktails and dizzying beats by resident DJs. Anyone who comes dressed up to the nines (in costume) will get complimentary entry.

Oct 28, 6pm-late at 1-Altitude. 6pm-9pm: $35, includes one house pour; after 9pm: $45, includes one premium pour and one Halloween cocktail.

The Upside Down Party

At this Netflix-inspired party, turn up as a character from Stranger Things, or shimmy into the costume of your favorite character from other Netflix series like The Defenders, Orange is the New Black, or The Get Down to get free entry. When you’re not busy figuring out who’s who, boogie the night away to throwback hits from the ’80s to the ’00s.

Oct 28, 10pm-late at Canvas Club. $20, includes one drink.
