Here’s a potentially fun suggestion for you and your pet: Check out an interactive art exhibition for cats and dogs at the School of the Arts. Apparently, it’s the first of its kind in the world.
Organized by natural pet food brand Wellness, the event features 10 installations, including 2D and 4D pieces, by local artists such as Vertical Submarine and Eeshuan. They’ve all been developed and tested by professional vets and animal behaviorist experts, so rest assured the artworks are safe for your pets to scout out.
One highlight is Mighty Yellow’s A Whole New World, an Aladdin-inspired installation for dogs that creates the illusion of floating through the clouds. And here’s the funny part — while your pooch chills on the magic carpet ride, it’ll get glimpses of flying toys and meat chunks reflected on the walls, while the tune of A Whole New World plays in the background at a frequency only detectable by dogs.
We’re not entirely sure if the dogs will become eager fans of Aladdin after this or if they’ll look at you with eyes of disappointment for subjecting them to mere projections of things they cannot touch.
Anyway, as for feline owners, In the Cat’s Belly by Kelly Limerick offers up a “Cat-ception” structure that contains four hollow rooms for the furry creatures to explore.
Also look out for adoption drives and fundraising activities by animal welfare groups like Action for Singapore Dogs, Cat Welfare Society, Purely Adoptions and SOSD Singapore.
Even if you don’t have a furry friend, you can always swing by the event for free pets and hugs with the dogs and cats.
