Do you even gym, bro? ‘Cause if you don’t, you may not be familiar with the name Barry’s. Founded in Los Angeles by former celebrity fitness trainer Barry Jay in 1998, the chain bills itself as the original High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) workout specialist.

The signature hour-long training session, typically held in its classic Red Rooms — think a darkened space with glowing red lights that wouldn’t look out of place in a nightclub — claims to burn up to 1,000 calories over 30 minutes of cardio and 30 minutes of HIIT moves. But if that doesn’t do the trick for you, perhaps you’ll be more motivated by knowing that Barry’s has quite the cult-like following among the rich and famous, counting names like Kim Kardashian, The Biebs, and David and Victoria Beckham among its exercise buffs.

Over the past 20 years, the brand has expanded across the globe to major cities like New York, Milan, London, Sydney, and Dubai, and now it’s making Singapore its first stop in Asia.

Barry’s will open in May at 18 Robinson Road, so CBD gym freaks can keep fit conveniently after work at the cost of $23 to $46 per class. Besides the core workout, the studio will also feature a Fuel Bar concept, serving made-to-order protein smoothies that are “nutritionally approved,” and a sizeable selection of its performance sportswear series. The changing rooms will apparently be stocked with a Dry Bar and luxe grooming products as well, so you can emerge fresh even after a crushing sweat sesh.
