Enter the Jurassic era: Dinosaurs have invaded Gardens by the Bay

Somebody must have been pondering hard on how best to tackle the idea of introducing dinosaurs to children without going the Barney route. Because now we have 11 life-sized, multi-coloured dinos at Gardens by the Bay’s Supertree Grove.

And these Jurassic sculptures aren’t mere statues made of foam and silicone with metal skeletons. The tall blue Brachiosaurus towers over tiny humans at 16 metres, while the seven metre-tall Tyrannosaurus Rex can blink and move its hands and jaws. Several dinos will also be lit up at night, thanks to the LED lights on the sculptures.

The design and production for the dinosaurs took about two months to complete, and their month-long existence is part of the Children’s Festival.

Other experiences at the fest include various prehistoric-themed activities like a dinosaur egg hunt, fossil and excavation workshops, interactive storytelling sessions, carnival rides and whimsical musical rhapsodies.

Children’s Festival is on from Mar 10-Apr 2, daily 10am-9pm at Gardens by the Bay. Free.
