Singapore has been chosen to showcase an exhibition of a famed Japanese robot cat for the first time outside of Japan.

The National Museum of Singapore will be presenting The Doraemon Exhibition from Nov. 5 to Feb. 5 next year for guests to create new or relive memories with one of the most iconic Japanese characters.

“We hope that The Doraemon Exhibition Singapore 2022 will allow people of all ages and backgrounds to create new memories and connections with Doraemon and be inspired by the unlimited possibilities of the iconic character,” Yuki Imamura, Director of Leyouki, the exhibition’s organizer, said.

This is the exhibition’s first global showcase outside of Japan. It has toured Japan’s cities since it was first showcased in 2002.

The exhibition will showcase an assembly of artworks by 28 renowned Japanese artists in line with the theme Create Your Own Original Doraemon. It depicts reinterpretations of Doraemon in the modern world as well as its cultural impact on contemporary history through paintings, sculptures, graphics and photography.

A selection of original drawings and sketches titled MANGA DORAEMON Original Drawings Exhibition from legendary manga artist and creator Fujiko F Fujio will also be on display.

Guests can bring home a piece of the experience by purchasing from a line-up of Doraemon merchandise, including the Fujiko F Fujio Museum’s and Singapore’s Doraemon collectibles.

Tickets are priced at S$30 and are now available for sale.
