Fans of Dutch DJ Don Diablo saw the man play for only half an hour during his set in Ultra Singapore 2017 last weekend, and they soon found out that it might just be his last one ever for the electronic dance music festival.
Don has since vowed not to play at any other Ultra shows, cancelling all his upcoming performances because of the alleged mistreatment he faced by the staff of Ultra Singapore.
Some context first: his set yesterday ended up being cut short without much explanation by the festival, who had Australian EDM duo Knife Party in his place. Turns out, Don had arrived in Singapore pretty late for reasons out of his control following delays during his flight from Beijing, and could only manage to play the last 30 minutes of his originally scheduled set time of 4:15pm to 5.45pm.
ULTRA Singapore we are confronted with severe delays at the airport of Beijing 😣 We will do our best to still make (a part of) the set 🙏🏻 pic.twitter.com/RwSk8MxJzT

Details emerged however from Don himself, who later revealed that he and his team were “massively disrespected” by the organisers of Ultra Singapore. Don’s tour manager claimed that he got a text message from the organisers that they “weren’t really welcomed anymore” to the festival, and that they were no longer getting paid for the show. Harsh.
Nonetheless, Don continued to play the shortened set, but his experience with Ultra Singapore — as well as other long-held issues he had with Ultra — was apparently bad enough for him to swear off playing the festival altogether.
Ultra Singapore has yet to issue any response to Don’s allegations, and we’ll update the article to reflect them, if any.
