Coldplay makes Singapore first stop in Asian tour; will play at the National Stadium on April 1st

So much has changed for Coldplay since they launched their debut album Parachutes back in 2000. From a quiet Brit alt-rock band making fragile songs like ‘Yellow’ and ‘Trouble’, Coldplay’s now one of the most successful pop bands in the world, with multi-million dollar stage productions and sold-out stadium concerts worldwide.

As for the quality of their music in recent years, er… it’s a whole other story, and one that we’d rather keep to ourselves. But don’t take it from us; take it from Queen Bae and David Bowie (RIP starman), who both shot down invitations to collaborate with Coldplay because their tracks were simply awful.

Coldplay is Coldplay though, and they did come up with four masterful records circa 2000-2008. Now that they’re done dazzling Europe and North America, the quartet are turning their attention to Asia — and after weeks of speculation, it’s confirmed: Singapore will host Coldplay seven years after they last rocked our shores.

The band has charted out an extensive A Head Full Of Dreams Tour around Asia in 2017, with Singapore as their first stop on the auspicious day of April Fools’. And fools indeed, for they’ll be playing at the National Stadium — a stadium derided multiple times as a concert venue, most notably for the Jay Chou and Madonna concerts.

But don’t let past complaints deter you from Coldplay hype. Tickets go on sale from $78 onwards via all Sportshubtix channels on Nov 21 at 10am. Stay updated on the Live Nation Lushington Facebook page.
