Besides Orchard Road’s first ever European-inspired Christmas village, the December festive season brings with it a massive “creative retail playground” filled with neon light art installations, music performances, craft workshops, arcade games, and an artisan market.

Brought to you by the people behind the crazily crowded event that was Artbox Singapore — hopefully this one won’t be as chaotic, since it’s spread across three weeks — Flashbang will transform the open-air car park at Grange Road and Orchard Fountain Corner into an interactive space featuring buskers, F&B booths, games, and loads more.

During the day (3pm to 7pm), you can participate in design workshops led by local makers to try everything from silk screen printing to leather crafting to face painting, or pick up a Christmas present at the Make-a-Gift station that offers customized engraving services.

Alternatively, there’s always the virtual reality installations to check out, or the marketplace featuring more than 100 booths hawking food, drinks, and all sorts of knick knacks.

After the sun sets (7pm to 11pm), stroll through the light tunnels and walkways or swing by the Glow Up area to cover yourself with body paint, glitter, nail polish, and tattoos — all for the ‘gram, of course.

Creative types can also dabble with light painting at the pixelstick photobooth by Allaflutter, doodle drawings at the neon wall by Shogun Creatives, or contribute to the glow stick mural by 2iDeas.

Flashbang is on from Dec 9-30, daily 3pm-11pm (3pm-1am on Dec 24) at open-air car park at Grange Road behind 313 @ Somerset. Free.
