Celebrate the memories of the soon redeveloping Dakota Crescent in a block party next week

Residents of Dakota Crescent were informed last year that their blocks were due for redevelopment, and that they had to move out by the end of 2016.

To commemorate one of the oldest housing estates in Singapore, the Remember Dakota project has been initiated to document the sights, sounds and nostalgia of the quaint neighbourhood, of which many recall growing up in.

Bid farewell to the cosy estate in the Remembering Dakota Crescent block party on Apr 12, offering a photo exhibition featuring iconic images of Dakota Crescent in its glory days, past and present.

Aside from the gallery, expect a bazaar as well as live performances by local acts including MICappella, ShiGGa Shay, .gif and Cashew Chemists.

The block party will be part of a 22-minute documentary on the neighbourhood, which hopes to showcase the unique community spirit and also shed light on how folks cope with change and trade-offs in modern Singapore.

The block party hits the estate at Block 12, Dakota Crescent on Apr 12. Stay updated on the block party on the Remember Dakota Facebook page.
