The biggest local music festival ever promises 150 Singaporean acts this year

Many would remember the madness that was the 100 Bands Festival last year, which was exactly what it sounds like — 100 of the top local music acts coming together for a concert that took place over three subsequent weekends in the heart of Kovan.

Welp, they’re back this year. And like everything else that commemorates the nation’s jubilee, the festival has swelled to mammoth proportions with the addition of 50 more local music talents, as well as relocating the ambitious gala to the huge expanses of Bedok Reservoir.

Just like its iteration last year, expect a myriad of acts both old and new across a spectrum of genres including indie, electronic, soul, pop, metal, punk and everything in between over three weekends and nine days between July 31 and Aug 16.

The offbeat location is also intentional, says Juhardi Mohamed, one of the many event managers of DUNCE. and The RSC, curators of the colossal event. “Like in 2014, we’re entrenching the festival firmly in the community, as gigs have always been held in town,” he remarked to Coconuts Singapore.

Aside from the music mainstays, expect booths, distros and even art exhibitions by the People’s Association’s PLUS. The full lineup announcement can be expected by the end of next week — in the meantime, stay updated on their Facebook event page.
