The world’s highest-grossing film has arrived in an immersive walkthrough in Gardens by the Bay.
The alien world of Pandora from James Cameron’s 2009 sci-fi film Avatar has taken over the Cloud Forest in Gardens by the Bay from now till March next year.
Avatar: The Experience, made in collaboration with Disney and Titanic producer Jon Landau’s Lightstorm Entertainment, features animatronics paired with suspenseful soundtracks and interactive spaces spread out through five different zones at the 4,000 sqm venue.
“Over the past month, our horticulturists have collaborated closely with all teams to infuse our Cloud Forest with the world of Pandora. We hope visitors are as excited as we are to be a part of this extraordinary event,” the garden’s CEO Felix Loh said in a news release.
The event marks the debut of a life-size animatronic banshee that screeches at guests and even more at its baby banshee and viperwolf when brought out by docents.
Sculptures of the film’s humanoid indigenous species Na’vi and other mystical creatures are put up along the bioluminescent environments. Another 5,700 plants with more than 160 species and varieties have also been added to the space to complement the Pandoran landscape.
The new marine Ilu creature from the upcoming sequel, Avatar: The Way of Water, scheduled to be released next month, is also showcased in its own room.
There’s also a booth that lets guests avatarize and envision themselves as a Na’vi.
Tickets are available on Klook and Gardens by the Bay from S$23.
