The ArtScience Museum’s permanent exhibition, Future World: Where Art Meets Science, just got a whole lot more interesting. Come March 14, three new art installations by teamLab will join the rest of the interactive exhibits at the Nature gallery, along with the re-opening of Crystal Universe and the return of Sketch Town Paper Craft.
First off, the super cool immersive audiovisual installation with the really long name, Crows are Chased and the Chasing Crows are Destined to be Chased as well, Transcending Space (pictured above). Pulling you into the heart of nature, this artwork features crows illustrated in light flying around the space and leaving glowing beams in their wake — as the birds collide, they create vibrant flowers. It’s a representation of the yatagarasu, a three-legged crow that’s believed to be the embodiment of the sun in Japanese mythology.
Next up, Black Waves, a depiction of the sea in the style of traditional Japanese paintings, but rendered by digital technology. It seems like the waters are alive, though that’s actually the interaction of hundreds of thousands of water particles mimicking the movement of waves in a virtual 3D space.
Then as a transition from the Nature gallery to the Town section, visual projection artwork Sliding through the Fruit Field allows kids to literally glide down the structure. As they descend the slope, their energy is transformed into a beam of sunlight and transferred to the field, allowing plants and fruits to grow and blossom.
And since it’s the first year anniversary of Future World, from Mar 16-18, the museum’s doors will stay open till 10pm, and visitors will get one-for-one entry to all exhibitions.
