20 boozy brunches, dance raves and pool parties to get you in the F1 festive mood

Oh hey, it’s F1 season again, and you know what that means. Time to pace yourself, ‘cause there’s loads to indulge in. Besides the actual race itself – which goes by in such a blur – the Padang stage will welcome acts like Queen + Adam Lambert, Kylie Minogue and Imagine Dragons over the weekend.

But if you’re just looking forward to the bites and booze, we totally get you. After all, no weekend is bangin’ without a wicked combination of the two (ideally one that doesn’t leave you hungover). So here’s a list of the top brunches, parties and happenings going on during F1. Read it and map out your plan of attack for the weekend stretch.


Be dazzled by the view from above

Fuel Up Friday

Smoke & Mirrors

Clink glasses with your buddies at this chillax alfresco bar, where you’ll get buzzed on bottomless drinks, including the likes of Perrier-Jouët champagne, Monkey Shoulder whiskey and a special race-themed cocktail crafted by head bartender Yugnes. Called Rage The Bull, the concoction is a blend of rye whiskey, maraschino liqueur, beetroot and pineapple syrup, angostura bitters, lemon juice and champagne. But don’t forget to pad your stomach before downing all the drinks – get in line at the Peking duck live station and buffet spread.

Grand Prix Weekend 2016

Sitting pretty on the 71st floor of Equinox Complex, New Asia is where you’ll wanna be to get high on F1 festivities. Kick start the party with MC/rapper/DJ Big Ali on Friday, followed by Axtone Records’ NEW_ID the next day, then catch your breath and wind down for the weekend with resident DJ DOZE.

Night Race Week 2016

CÉ LA VI

Hey, hardcore revelers. Party on for a week straight at this rooftop spot with a line-up that includes sunset sessions, the Official Martini Racing Party with DJ J-Cue, pre-race afternoon BBQs, the Sky High Brunch filled with tropical summer vibes, and nightly entertainment courtesy of guest and resident DJs.

Sky Grandé Prix

View from Empire

Don’t glue your eyes to the TV screen – head over to this sky high shindig and check out the panoramic race track view in person. Now in its fifth year, Sky Grandé Prix offers five themed nights, starting with Her Fabulousness on Wednesday, featuring free beauty services like manicures and massages for ladies. Next up is Infiniti Jewels Night, where you’ll get to ogle at rare diamonds, followed by bottles poppin’ at Mumm Party Squad. Saturday sees Rev Magazine throwing a Supercar Night, while Sunday ends things with a grand after-party spotlighting lingerie models wearing the new Essence by Triumph collection.

The Circuit

There’s tons of stuff happening at 1-Altitude, including the Altimate Circuit Party with DJ duo KimKat (Sept 16), Altimate’s Full Throttle shindig starring Kenneth G (Sept 17), a day-to-night artisanal farmers’ market at Stellar (Sept 16-18), and the Williams Martini Racing Party at 1-Altitude’s alfresco rooftop space with DJ Katty Q (Sept 16).

Have a splashin’ good time

Skyline Sessions + Party in the Pool

Party at HI-SO

Drop in on two back-to-back pool parties for a splashin’ good time featuring the likes of DJs Jeck Hyde, Jared Kong, JonnyVicious, Tye West, Oliver Osborne, DD and Sjvanesh.

Splash and Dash

W Singapore – Sentosa Cove

Take a breather from the race and make your way to this F1-themed pool party, where Marko Liv will be slinging out sizzling beats while you take a dip in the waters and watch the sun go down with a glass of bubbly in hand.

Treat yourself to a decadent buffet spread

F1 Brunch

If F1 gives you an excuse to indulge, spend the afternoon at Fullerton Bay, where you’ll tackle a generous spread that includes crustaceans on ice, a meat carving station with slow roasted prime rib, crispy crackling pork and oven roasted chicken, a live foie gras station, and a dessert section that includes a live crepe stand.

F1 Grand Sunday Brunch

Champagne brunch at mezza9

Stuff yourself silly with rotisserie meats, seafood on ice, Thai dishes, grilled yakitori sticks, sushi, sashimi and desserts at this lively edition of the hotel’s champagne brunch. Of course, you can opt for the non-alcoholic price, but why do that when you can top up a couple bucks for champagne, wines, beers and cocktails?

Singapore Grand Prix F1 Sunday Brunch

Raffles Singapore

Indulge in an ultra luxe champagne brunch with free flow Billecart-Salmon champagne and a selection that includes live carving stations, French cheeses, European cold cuts, fresh seafood and sweet treats. Highlights include Alaskan king crab, Maine lobster, Iberico pork ribs and Omaha filet mignon.

Go underground for two nights of high-octane, post-F1 action. Day one features names like Nandi from Jakarta and Victor G from Malaysia spinning the beats of house and tech house, while French DJ Sébastien Léger takes over the next night for a medley of tech house and techno.

Sept 16 & 17, 10pm-late at kyo. RSVP for complimentary entry before midnight, otherwise it’s $28 with two drinks.

Amber Lounge

It’s glitz and glamour all night long, as Amber Lounge takes you into the wee hours of the morning with all the booze you could ever want at the open bar. There’ll be a supermodel and F1 drivers fashion showcase, just like in previous years, but also watch out for the Magnum Pleasure Bar offering ice cream and customised toppings for the first time, as well as new concept EXTRAVAGANZA, where more than 20 live shows with singers, dancers, musicians and DJs will take the stage.

Bang Bang Race Weekend: Sasha Grey

Former porn star Sasha Grey will helm the decks at the Pan Pacific Hotel club for a ritzy party (yes, guys actually have to wear button-down shirts, long pants and shoes, while ladies must show up in cocktail attire and heels) featuring plenty of high-energy tracks and dizzying beats.

Sept 16, 10pm-6am at Bang Bang. $45.

Boudoir Noire

Unleash your inner party animal as you slink around this exclusive cabaret party, which welcomes the return of The Box and its risqué performances. Also look out for burlesque superstar Sukki Singapora making a seductive appearance on stage.

Expect the Unexpected

Step into the elegant Vagabond Salon for an immersive dinner and after-party, where avant garde artist Kate March has collaborated with mod-Sin café CreatureS to craft a one-of-a-kind five-course menu to reflect the theatrical performance. As you sip on a constant stream of wines and champagnes, the space will transform into a dance floor at midnight, complete with tunes by DJ Erok and KRÍA.

Global Party Series Singapore

One of the newer mega clubs in town, Baliza plays host to three DJs over the F1 weekend – DJ Kraiz from Illuzion Phuket, DJ Nina from Valkyrie in Manila, and Belgium-based DJ duo NEXUZ.

Sept 16-18, 10pm-6am at Baliza. $80 early bird, $100 at the door.

Grand Prix Season

If you’ve been eagerly anticipating the launch of Montreux Jazz Cafe Singapore, you’re in luck. Making its debut just in time for F1, the restaurant and music bar is offering live performances, free flow Möet Chandon and canapes (from 9pm to 11pm) and one-for-one drinks (from 11pm onwards) over the weekend. Of course, you can’t forget about the tunes — playing on Thursday are Fendi and Fuze Collective, DJ Brendon P and DJ Jay Raeburn, followed by Cocktail Americano, DJ Kusto and DJ Anand on Friday. Saturday sees Tim De Cotta and NADA bring out the melodies, as well as DJ Kenneth F and DJ Ramesh then Mantravine, DJ Titus and DJ Ramesh wrap things up on Sunday.

Luminous with Marko Liv

Attica

Bathed in a luminous green, Attica’s annual Dom Pérignon party features a pop-up arcade for guests to put their racing skills to the test against race queens. And helming the decks this year is DJ Marko Liv, with his dizzying beats that’ll get you up on your feet and dancing.

The Podium Lounge

The Podium Lounge

It’s hard to believe we’re eight years into this F1 madness. But who’s counting, when there’s plenty of booze, entertainment and swanky vibes going around. Over three nights, you’ll get to rub shoulders with the rich and famous, throw on your dancing shoes for performances by Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Mark Doyle and Estelle, watch models strut their stuff across a custom-built runway hovering over a pop-up island bar, feast your eyes on an art exhibition by Kumari Nahappan, and cheers to partying it up the classy way.

Sept 16-18, 10pm-late at Grand Ballroom, The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore. $188-$340 early bird, $218-$370 at the door.

Zouk Bloc Party

To escape from the F1 madness for a bit, head over to Clarke Quay for daytime fun with Zouk’s first ever bloc party to celebrate its upcoming move. As DJs like Jeremy Boon and LeNERD helm the decks, you can dance your way through the flea market stalls, check out Zouk’s latest F&B venture Red Tail Bar Singapore or boogie with little ones at the Zoukidisco.
