Totes underwhelmed by Laneway Festival Singapore’s line-up announcement this morning? No worries, there’s a music festival that celebrates Singapore’s very own talents in a huge, huge way — the 100 Bands Festival.
In case you can’t discern from the name, there will be 100 bands performing in the ultimate festival that champions Singaporean music. You can’t have it all in one day, of course, so it’s spread out across three whole weekends, starting this Friday night.

Keeping to their nomadic DIY spirit, the festival uprooted themselves from last year’s space at Bedok Reservoir and will be planting the whole thing at the open field opposite Paya Lebar Airbase (directions on Google Maps here). It seems they’ve also reduced the number of bands from last year’s 150 — unsurprising, considering the insane level of logistical arrangements and scheduling needed to host that many bands.

Like before, established talents will be playing alongside rookies in an eclectic, non-stop extravaganza of homegrown music. Headliners range from the likes of post-hardcore icons A Vacant Affair, grindcore legends Wormrot, Oi! veterans The Bois, indie rock darlings Cashew Chemists, post-metal maestros I Am David Sparkle and a helluva lot more. Stay updated on the 100 Bands Festival Facebook page.
