Now that Zouk is settling in nicely at its new Clarke Quay digs, the nightclub has revealed its fourth concept: Capital. Catering to those who want to appreciate the finer things in (night)life, the 640 sqm luxe lounge features an island bar, a whisky bar, a cigar room, plush seating areas and a dance floor.
As you walk up the dimly-lit stairwell, you’ll notice the use of stone and brass details by design studio Charnley Stadworth; at the ceiling area above the dance floor, custom light installations courtesy of Barcelona-based lighting design firm LEDSCONTROL lead the way to the whisky bar; if you pause to admire the works decorating the walls like a private library space, the collection is curated by Asian art consultancy The Artling.
On the booze side, the menu highlights a respectable range of whiskys — 48 types, to be exact — sold by the glass with prices starting from $16. If your preferences lean towards rums, you’re in for a treat with a sizeable selection here, alongside various spirits, wines and champagnes, as well as eight barrel-aged cocktails that have been aged in oak wood behind the bar.
Of course, since it’s Zouk, the music never stops. So pop by for Capital Thursdays, Capital Fridays or Capital Saturdays to indulge in beats by resident DJs Jeremy Boon, Matthew and Andrew Tang. If you’re hanging out earlier in the night for post-work drinks, you’ll get to catch live acts by local musicians and DJ collectives — once the clock strikes midnight (or 11pm on Thursdays), the club night will take over with hip hop and R&B tunes to entice party-goers to hit the dance floor.
Capital is at Zouk, The Cannery, 3C River Valley Rd. Thurs 7pm-2am (island bar area only), Fri 7pm-3am (till 4am every last Friday of the month) & Sat 7pm-4am. 7pm-9pm: Free entry; 9pm-late: Men $40, women $35. Admission: Men 25 years and above, women 21 years and above.
