As anyone who’s lived in Singapore for some time would know, it can get pretty difficult to find some quality vegan/vegetarian-friendly nosh.
Thanks to Quorn though, those living the meat-free life will get one more option to add in their pursuit for meatless cuisine. The UK brand has officially reached our shores, promising to provide tasty, healthy, and sustainable edibles, all without putting an ounce of meat in the product range.
Said to be ideal for a broad range of cuisines and cooking styles, Quorn is currently available for purchase online via RedMart and all FairPrice Xtra outlets (as well as selected FairPrice Finest and standard supermarkets). Folks can already purchase the likes of meatballs, nuggets, burgers, and sausage patties that still possess the taste, appearance, and texture of meat.
Not all are vegan though — only the Vegan Hot & Spicy Burgers and Vegan Breaded Fillets are, while other products will have a small amount of egg white or milk ingredients.
But like us, many of you might have doubts about the taste of meat substitutes, especially since we’ve been exposed to so many bad ones at hawker center vegetarian stalls. As such, Quorn is going big by having a three-day pop-up event from tomorrow till Thursday, where its food truck will be setting up shop across the island to give out free lunches, so you can taste ‘em yourself. Dishes made from Quorn such as Kung Pao Burger and Nuggets with Salted Egg Yolk Dip should taste pretty good, considering they’re cooked by local celebrity chef Sam Leong and his family.
