It’s been a year filled with Japanese festivals, events and themed cafes in Singapore, and the latest happening sees the East Japan Railway Company establishing its first overseas venture on our shores. Opening in December, Japan Rail Cafe will be nestled on the first floor of Tanjong Pagar Centre, the tallest building that’s connected to Tanjong Pagar MRT station.

Step into the space for an array of on-trend Japanese products, Japanese rail ticketing services, and loads of information on the lesser-known areas in the country. At the food counter, expect a menu of rice bowls, burgers and sandwiches, as well as a revolving menu of unique dishes from different regions in Japan. Signature items include the seafood avocado don and the wagyu beef burger with avocado, bacon and cheddar cheese.

Every month, the cafe will also collaborate with the Japan National Tourism Organization, Japanese local governments and corporations to host various seminars and workshops related to the chosen Japanese region of the month. At the end of the day, it’s all done to help the public learn more about Japanese destinations besides usual suspects like Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka.
Japan Rail Cafe opens on Dec 4 at #01-20/21 Tanjong Pagar Centre, 5 Wallich St. Mon-Sat 11am-9pm, Sun & PH 11am-8pm.
