Get your croissants, tarts, long blacks, and more at Tiong Bahru Bakery’s newest outlet housed in yet another historical location.
The bakery chain opened its doors and ovens last week to fans along the foothills of Fort Canning Hill with exclusive items such as sourdough croissants piped with creamy and nutty praline filling, ginger tea Nutmeg Teh Halia, and Sourdough Kvass, which is a refreshing Eastern European beverage brewed with sourdough yeast.
The bakery’s latest outlet is housed in the former River Valley Swimming Complex, which used to be one of Singapore’s oldest public pools. Lifeguard stands, donut floats and pool signs are displayed around the space to pay homage to the pool that opened in 1959.
The 135-seat space also has an outdoor patio and an open kitchen where bakers can show off their skills while allowing the aroma of fresh baked bread to fill the air.
The bakery also lets you picnic on its lawn from S$22 with a choice of breakfast or lunch sets that come with an assortment of baked goods, salads, and beverages packed in a custom picnic bag.
Update: After this story was published, Tiong Bahru Bakery changed the price of its picnic bundles.
