Bagels are a rare find in Singapore — the good ones, especially. So if you’re a West-sider who’s been making the trek to Two Men Bagel House to get your fix, now you can rest easy with this cafe in your neighborhood.

Sesame & Bagels, located in the quiet NEWest mall at Clementi, specializes in the ring-shaped bread just like its name suggests. The modern minimalist eatery dishes out bagels with schmears, bagel sandwiches, and desserts like cakes, tarts, and puffs to go with your coffee and tea. There’s even a selection of loaves you can take home with you, including milk bread, wholemeal bread, and German rye bread.

For $2.50, you can take your pick of plain, sesame, sea salt and pepper, garlic, wholemeal, or onion bagels, and add liberal amounts of cream cheese ($2.50) or kaya ($2.50) spreads to each bite. To heap on more toppings, throw in an additional $4 for smashed pumpkin or avocado and feta.

If you’re looking for a more substantial meal, the classic bagel sammie ($8) is stuffed with ham, egg, cheese, and Sriracha mayo, while the avo egg one ($10) comes with cheese sausage and fried or scrambled egg. On the higher end of the price spectrum, the lox sandwich ($14.50) is plied with smoked salmon, cream cheese, red onion, beetroot, and capers.

To ensure you get both sweet and savory cravings satiated, the cafe also offers a dessert menu of carrot cake ($2.20/slice) and tarts such as matcha blueberry ($6), lemon ($5), and chocolate caramel ($4.80). Cappuccinos, lattes, and mochas are available as well, alongside tea brews like blackcurrent and hibiscus, chamomile, and peppermint.
