You know the famous Kinkaku Soft Ice Cream from Japan? It’s the one by the entrance of the popular tourist site that is Kyoto’s Golden Pavilion, Kinkakuji, the shop that’s got its ice cream cones all over social media, thanks to the Insta-worthiness of the sweet treat covered in edible gold leaf.
Well, if you haven’t got a chance to try it in its country of origin, local dessert shop Small Potatoes Ice Creamery has launched its own limited edition versions — sea salt caramel with gold leaf ($12) and purple potato with silver leaf ($10).
The gold and silver leaves are both made with 24-carat gold and brought in from Japan. Even if they may not taste like much, the novelty of it all (and the supposed health benefits like keeping you youthful and giving you a longer lifespan) will probably draw crowds to the ice cream shop — so if you’d like to add a little bling to your ‘gram, get there before they sell out.
Small Potatoes Ice Creamery is at #B3-48 313 @ Somerset, daily 11am-10pm; and #B1-131 Novena Square 2, daily 11.30am-9pm.
