Forget McDonald’s. So what if you didn’t get to try the fast food chain’s nasi lemak burger before it promptly sold out in less than two weeks? There’s a new contender in town, and it looks pretty damn good.
Enter The Beast‘s nasi lemak burger ($20), a hulking creation of fried chicken thigh slathered with house-made sambal and topped with a runny fried egg. The best, most authentic part of all? Everything’s sandwiched between two deep fried coconut rice ‘buns’ — yes, rice. The burg also comes with a side of luncheon meat fries for extra guilty goodness.
It’s all part of the eatery’s August-only, Southern dishes with a local twist menu for National Day — other items to try include salted egg yolk chicken and pandan waffles ($20), as well as beef rendang fries with mozzarella cheese ($14).
If you insist on attempting to chow down on all that, the ‘Yum Seng to SG52’ set ($56) offers the three specials with two glasses of pandan Arnold Palmer — if you yum seng with the servers, you’ll get the promo price of $52. Cheers to the nation’s 52nd.
