Sip on cocktail versions of your favourite kopitiam drinks at this hotel bar

Raise your glass to the nation’s 51st birthday at Rumpoles Bar, where five hawker-inspired cocktails have made their way to the menu. Think of it as your favourite kopitiam drinks on happy hour.

Sling is the hotel bar’s take on the iconic Singapore Sling, but served in a plastic tabao bag with a dried pineapple wheel thrown in for good measure. Another drink offered in the takeaway bag is Teh-Ice, a potent version of teh-c made with vodka, elderflower, honey black tea and calamansi.

If ice kachang is your go-to dessert, try Fare, which is a mix of rum, water chestnut and Iichiko lemon ice blend. For something refreshing, order Asam Asam, the gin, soupsop and ume interpretation of the classic iced soursop.

Then there’s the Kopi-B – a nutty, rye-infused whiskey concoction served with a stick of bacon that acts as a stirrer – it’s a recipe inspired by kopi-c.

To pad your stomach with local bites, the bar snack menu offers chicken satay skewers, popiah rolls, kueh pie tee, sambal ikan bilis with roasted nuts and epok-epok.

The hawker cocktails are available from now till Oct 31 at Rumpoles Bar in Hotel Jen Tanglin Singapore, 1A Cuscaden Rd. Cocktails $14, bar snacks $12.
