Singapore’s Nae:um, Claudine and Summer Pavilion debuts in Asia’s Best Restaurants list

Weeks before the full Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants list is unveiled, organizers gave us a taster of those who almost made the top 50.

This year’s 51-100 list welcomes 17 new entries spanning 17 cities. Singapore has collected six restaurants under the list. 

Its three new entries are newly opened and Michelin-starred modern Korean restaurant Nae:um (No. 83), Claudine (No. 85) which is owned by Julien Royer who is also the co-owner of Odette, and Michelin-starred Cantonese restaurant Summer Pavilion (No. 86).

The other three restaurants familiar to the list are Thevar (No. 56) and Lolla (No. 63), who climbed up from rank 92 and 75 respectively last year and Jaan by Kirk Westaway (No. 84) who dropped from 55th in last year’s list.

Hong Kong has the most restaurants with eight including three new entries: Yong Fu (No. 54), Ando (No. 61) and Estro (No. 62).

Japan welcomes newbies Esquisse (No. 67), The Pizza Bar on 38th (No. 80) and Hommage (No. 91) from Tokyo, and L’évo (No. 60) from Toyama.

August solely represents Jakarta at No. 95. 

Bangkok sees six establishments with new entries Côte by Mauro Colagreco (No. 71) and Wana Yook (No. 72).

Kuala Lumpur has Nadodi (No. 94), Eat and Cook (No. 79) and Dewakan (No. 74).

The list is ranked by votes from the Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants Academy which is made up of over 300 food writers, critics, chefs, restaurateurs and regional culinary experts.

The main Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants list will be revealed on March 28 at Resorts World Sentosa and will be livestreamed online.
