This year’s list of the World’s 50 Best Bars is out, and Singapore’s lookin’ pretty good. A total of six Singapore bars clinched spots on the much-anticipated list — which was announced in London last night — making it our country’s strongest showing ever.
Glamorous cocktail bar Manhattan at Regent Hotel Singapore — already hailed as the best bar in Asia — rose four spots from 11th place last year to seventh place this year, breaking into the coveted top ten.
Another reason to celebrate: Two local watering holes made their debut on the list — Atlas at Parkview Square came in at a very respectable 15th place (making it the highest new entry), and Native at Amoy Street took 47th spot. The former is popular for its intricate Art Deco details and gin collection; while the latter spotlights foraged ingredients and spirits from around the region.
Elsewhere on the list, Operation Dagger fell three places to 24th place, 28 HongKong Street dipped 11 places to 25th place, and Tippling Club re-entered the list at 31st place after being left out for three years.
As for the top three spots, London clinched the first two with American Bar coming out tops and Dandelyan in second place, while The NoMad in New York came in third.
Besides the six from Singapore repping Asia, six other bars from Japan, Hong Kong, China, and Taiwan bagged places on the list, which was voted on by more than 500 industry experts from 55 countries.
