Known for dehydrated fruit and vegetable snacks, local startup Hey! Chips has recently launched corn kernel chips to its line of guilt-free goodness.

The brand says snacking shouldn’t only be associated with unhealthy diets. Those who’d prefer their fruits and vegetables prepared differently can keep it “as real as possible” and enjoy them “completely guilt-free.”

“Unfortunately, most snack options in the supermarkets are highly processed, which has a long-term harmful effect on our health. Our mission is to encourage more people to eat well by enhancing the healthy snacking experience,” founder Emily Chu said in a news release.

They sell eight varieties including mango, banana, okra, broccoli, cherry tomato, onion, pineapple and jackfruit.

All their chips are dehydrated at 60C to 80C for a crunch that still holds flavor. The brand likens its vacuum-frying process to how NASA prepares food for outer space.

It is different from deep frying, air frying, or baking them as it doesn’t absorb as much oil.

The brand says there is absolutely nothing artificial added, not even sugar, and all chips are made with 100% natural ingredients.

The corn chips’ launch price is S$4 for a 35 gram pack, while the rest are S$4.90. They are available online and at Redmart, Shopee, Lazada, NTUC Online, Grab Mart, Phoon Huat, Ryan’s Grocery, Mothercare, and Food Folks.

Hey! Chips were founded in 2018 and has received six international Great Taste Awards in the United Kingdom.
