Adding to the growing list of anticipated restaurants coming to Singapore once Jewel Changi Airport opens in April, Shang Social is the Shangri-La Group’s first standalone dining concept outside a hotel. With three Chinese cuisines — Cantonese, Huaiyang, and Sichuan — on the menu crafted by three Shangri-La “master chefs,” the 220-seater establishment consists of a dining area, a market corner, and a bar.

Where traditional meets contemporary, the menu offers its own interpretations of the chosen Chinese cuisines while sticking to their roots. Cantonese chef Mok Kit Keung, who arrived in Singapore with two Michelin stars to his name at Shang Palace in Kowloon Shangri-La, Hong Kong, will be bringing his two signature dishes to the table: bamboo noodles with dark soya sauce and deep-fried whole boneless chicken filled with fried glutinous rice.

Meanwhile, chef Jou Hou, mentored by Huaiyang master Zhou Xiaoyan, will offer his Huaiyang favorites like “Jiangnan Wok” braised black marbled pork and baked Suzhou minced pork bun. Chef Rick Du rounds up the line-up with his Sichuan specialties, which include the likes of spicy Sichuan chicken and claypot mapo beancurd with minced beef.

At the classy dining space, you can take a seat at the chef’s table alongside 11 other diners for a peek at the kitchen action and curated menus by the chefs, or book one of the private rooms for a quiet meal. Otherwise, there’s the courtyard area, where you’ll be immersed in the surrounding Forest Valley of Jewel.

For a casual experience, head to the Chinese-style marketplace for seasonal dishes at the pop-up kitchen and bring home delicacies or sauces by Shang Social. If you prefer a cozy cocktail session, the 18-seater bar blends East and West flavors on its menu of cocktails with modern Chinese tapas plates.
