If you haven’t been to Artistry in a while, you’d best swing by to say your goodbyes before it shutters for good on Mar. 25. Not just a mere cafe, the space in Kampong Glam has championed the arts scene and hosted a multitude of arts events throughout its time.
So it’s with a heavy heart that we share this news: After almost six years of welcoming visual arts exhibitions, poetry performances, and music gigs, Artistry is bidding us farewell to “take a break” and connect with the public “through other initiatives in the near future”.
So you’ve got two weekends left to chill at the cafe, with events like Speakeasy: One Last Dance, Havana Social Club Trio featuring Ernesto Enriquez, and Bluemonks Jazz Jam at the final farewell. And don’t forget to order your last round of chili crab burgers and ondeh ondeh hotcakes before it’s too late.
In other sad but related news, Muchachos on Keong Saik Road served up its last tacos and burritos yesterday (but will be re-opening at Telok Ayer later this year), while Japanese/French restaurant Me@OUE is closing shop at the end of March.
