For those who aren’t familiar with the middle ages, apothecary shops are what people referred to as pharmacies back in the days when various herbs (as well as human fat, saliva and urine) were used in recipes meant as actual remedies for sicknesses.
Thankfully, Ann Siang Hill’s Oxwell & Co has absolutely none of that in mind for its newly launched space, The Apothecary. Nonetheless, the old-world charm and the intention to cure you of all ailments remain, and what makes better medicine than proper cocktails?
Tucked away on the third floor of the building, the brand new room promises all the libations — made in the spirit of herbal and botanical remedies — you need to make your problems go away (please don’t take us literally). A tad bit cosy the new space may be, but its variety of eccentric cocktails more than make up for it.
Take, for example, the Croak & Wheeze Relief — a brew made with Glenfiddich 12 Year Old whiskey, honey, citrus, orange bitters and sage that’s been steeped in cigar smoke. How’s that for a slice of fried gold?
So take a break from the maladies of the work day and order all the elixirs, tonics and tinctures you need from The Apothecary.
The Apothecary is at Oxwell & Co, 6 Ann Siang Rd. Wed-Sat 6pm-late.
