Possibly the world’s first Peking Duck hawker stall opens at Gluttons Bay

Ah, Peking duck, a meal once served in the imperial dining halls of China. Absurdly crisp skin, tender meat and succulent smoky flavour — all hallmarks of an ancient gourmet dish fit for kings, and now, for everyday gluttons too.

No longer will you have to reserve a table at some lavish restaurant; get your fix of authentic Peking duck from a hawker stall at Gluttons Bay. Majestic Restaurant Group has executed the very unpretentious decision of offering the atas dish at the open air hawker centre beside The Esplanade.

They’re not pandering to coffee-shop tastebuds though. According to foodie extraordinaire KF Seetoh in The New Paper, the stall offers five variations of the dish: Peking Duck Platter, Duck Salad with Truffle Oil Sauce, Salted Vegetable Duck Soup, Fried Duck Rice with crispy cereal and Honey Glazed Duck Wings. Then there’s Fried Soft Shell Crab with Thai Mango Salad thrown in for yuks.

The stall has seen great success since it opened earlier this month, proving there’s no class segregation when it comes to good food. On the night it opened, Majestic Peking Duck stall reportedly moved 50 ducks.
