Popular fishball noodle stall at Upper Serangoon Road re-opens with new name and owner

If you were one of those upset by the sudden, surprising closure of the famous Song Kee Fishball Noodles at 532 Upper Serangoon Road in August, this piece of news may make your day. The stall is back up and running, only it’s got a new name and a new owner.

Finest SongKee’s Fishball Noodle recently opened on September 1, and it’s co-owned by Chua Cheng Heng, the cousin of Chua Poh Seng and his two older brothers — that’s the trio who used to run Song Kee, which has been around since 1966.

But fret not. The menu and prices are still the same, according to The Straits Times. For $4 to $8, you can take your pick from one of the five dishes, including dry mee pok, kway teow soup and fish dumpling soup. So head over to get your fill of fishballs, fish dumplings and tau pok stuffed with fish paste — although there’s no guarantee the dishes will taste the same as before.

The new owner, who also runs Song Kee Kway Teow Noodle Soup at Block 75 Toa Payoh Lorong 5, said the hawker stall sells about 450 bowls of noodles every day.
