Chicken and waffles are a great combination — although admittedly it took us a while to wrap our heads around the American invention. But no matter, better late than never, right? That was probably what the people behind Popeyes thought when they launched their new menu item: Chicken and waffle “sandwiches”.
Think fried chicken thigh covered in nacho cheese, chilli, and maple syrup, nestled between two crispy-looking waffles. Depending on your view, it could be paradise on a platter or a heart attack on a plate. Or both.
But with Popeyes being a fast food chain, prices for the new dish are generally on the affordable end of the spectrum — it’s S$6.90 for the chicken and waffles, and S$8.90 for the set meal that comes with a drink and a side.
To kick things off, the eatery got local competitive eater Zermatt Neo to chow down on 10 plates of chicken and waffles — if you’d like to watch the interminable 49-minute live vid, click on the Popeyes Singapore Facebook page.
But as always, with all things fast food (ahem, McD’s we’re lookin’ at you), don’t believe the hype before you actually try it out.

Anyway, if you’d like to give it a shot, the limited edition item will only be on the menu till late April, so don’t wait too long.
