This month, the King of Fruits honours patrons of Goodwood Park Hotel with its presence at the annual Durian Fiesta. And if you somehow haven’t tasted the rich goodness that is the hotel’s famous durian desserts, well then, you’re missing out. The much-loved event has been around for 34 years, so they’re definitely doing something right.
Anyway, should you decide to throw your diet to the wind and give it a go this year, you’ll have 14 Mao Shan Wang and D24 dessert concoctions to stuff your face with over the next few months. Out of the line-up, six are new creations — get excited for generous portions of creamy D24 pulp in standout items like ice cream cakes wrapped with charcoal sponge and dark chocolate gold stars or crunchy Oreo cookie base tartlets topped with durian mousse and covered in sunflower seeds or cashew nuts.
Other new creations to look out for include matcha mousse and white chocolate cakes with durian mousse, as well as cups of almond sponge, durian mousse, panna cotta and salted caramel sprinkled with vanilla crumble and crushed pistachios.

D24 fried sesame balls — a neat balance of crispy dough and creamy pulp — will also make their debut exclusively on Min Jiang’s dine-in dim sum menu.

Oh, and regulars of the Fiesta will be relieved to know that your favourite signatures like the D24 mousse cake, D24 puffs and Mao Shan Wang ice cream are back.

For durian fanatics who’d really like to prove your dedication to the thorny fruit, go ahead and gift yourself the plushie version of the Fiesta’s mascot: Spiky the bear.

Take note that the availability of various durian desserts differs from month to month, so you’d best check with the hotel before ordering or risk disappointment.
The Durian Fiesta is on from Mar 10-Jul 31 at The Deli, Goodwood Park Hotel.
