Taiwanese street food snacks are no stranger to our land of the food-obsessed. But oyster mee sua, fried chicken, and oyster omelette aside, what Singaporeans can’t get enough of is apparently… flame-grilled beef cubes. Hot damn.
So when two young Singaporeans decided to bring in the sizzling crowd favorite, people began buzzing with excitement about the news. Setting up their stall in the basement of Plaza Singapura, the pair will debut their “self-made brand” (i.e. not a franchise) called Huoyanshaiziniu on Jan 20, The Straits Times reported.
Interestingly enough, the duo — 23-year-old Sean Lee and 21-year-old Cheo Tian Feng — came up with the concept while completing their National Service. Both even registered their company on their operationally ready date (ORD) to make things official.
Expect a rendition of the popular night market snack customized to local tastes, priced at $6.90 for 130g of Angus rib-eye. The beef cubes are first grilled, then torched and sprinkled with either seaweed powder, garlic powder or yakitori sauce. For a more substantial meal, you can also get the meat with a side of Japanese rice at $8.
