People actually queued overnight for the Jollibee Woodlands opening to get free limited edition toys

If you’re a Jollibee fan living in the North, you would’ve heard the news by now. The Filipino fried chicken fast food chain is expanding to Woodlands MRT station and Waterway Point in Punggol, adding to its already-existing branches at Lucky Plaza, Paya Lebar Square, Changi City Point, Square 2, and Jurong East MRT station.

Well, the Woodlands outlet opens today — no news on the date for Punggol yet — and fans were psyched. Enough to start queueing hours before the eatery actually opens.

Jollibee was as incredulous as us (probably pleasantly surprised, too), posting a photo at 11:20pm yesterday of several very excited fried chicken enthusiasts camping outside the store overnight.

In good old Singapore style, the group was most likely in it for the freebies, since the brand had announced earlier that the first five customers at the Woodlands location on opening day would get a limited edition Jollibee Funko Pop, while the rest of the first 100 diners would receive “huggable Jollibee pillows.”

Worth the wait? Maybe not to you, but by 7am today, more people appeared to have joined the line in anticipation of the 9am opening. (Take note though, that regular operating hours go from 10am to 10pm.)

More power to ’em!
