Order comfort food prepped by home chefs at this new community marketplace

We couldn’t be happier to have food delivery services like Deliveroo, UberEats and Foodpanda in Singapore — seriously, they’ve made our lives so much easier (and our stomachs so much more contented). But sometimes, you just want comfort food in the form of a good old home-cooked meal.

Enter Dine Inn, a new community marketplace that connects home cooks with hungry patrons. It’s the brainchild of veteran chef Eric Teo and Luke Lee, the owner of six local restaurants. On the platform, you can choose between appetisers, mains and desserts (or pick all of ’em) and opt to dine in at the host’s house, collect the food yourself, have it delivered to your doorstep or invite the cook to whip up the food in your own kitchen.

Search on the site for the type of cuisine you’re in the mood for, then enter your location and booking date if you’re after a specific meal. Otherwise, just browse through all the hosts (you can even read reviews of their dishes and descriptions of their homes) and pick whichever sounds best to you. Some of the items on offer include cheesecake, shepherd’s pie, braised pork belly and even confinement meals for new mothers.

The selection of home cooks is still pretty limited, so if you’d like to show off your own skills in the kitchen, sign up to be a host on the site.
