Have you heard of the famous Tiong Bahru Satay Man? Legend has it, the elusive pushcart seller grilled meat skewers for decades before the authorities’ hefty fines on his street peddling grew too much to bear.

Now, you’d be hard pressed to find Ah Pui’s (as he’s known) old school Hainanese satay sticks anywhere in Singapore — unless you’re one of the lucky ones who’ve managed to stumble upon his contact to engage him for private home parties. That’s how the former street hawker, now 59, keeps his satay flame alive.

But thanks to a collab with Moosehead, you can now sink your teeth into Ah Pui’s legendary satay sticks at the restaurant’s latest Supper Series. On Apr 7, the one-night only dinner will feature satay platters piled high with slices of pork loin, which are marinated in lemongrass and coconut shavings, then chargrilled and served with a homemade spicy peanut gravy and pineapple.

Also part of the platter: Moosehead’s skewers of Inka-roasted herb-brined lamb neck and Inka-roasted cauliflower nestled on a bed of Greek yogurt.
That’s your supper plans, sorted.
The Moosehead Supper Series with the Tiong Bahru Satay Man is on Apr 7, 10pm-late at Moosehead. First come first served. $24/platter for two.
