Changi Airport Terminal 2 welcomes a new Japanese gourmet hall this week: Sora (“sky” in Japanese). The 300-seater space, which finds design inspiration from airline lounges, is ANA’s first food venture outside of Japan — and it’s also considered the largest restaurant concept across the airport’s four terminals.
Tucked away at the area accessible to the public on the third floor, Sora is home to six restaurant brands that serve up all your favorite Japanese dishes — from ramen and sashimi to okonomiyaki (savory pancake) and tempura.
Out of the line-up, two names are new to Singapore: Tsuruhashi Fugetsu and Japoli Kitchen. The former is a famous okonomiyaki chain from Osaka that grills the popular savory pancakes (from $13) made with cabbage, yakisoba (stir-fried noodles), meats, and seafood; while the latter fuses Italian and Japanese cuisine with menu items (from $10.80) like porcini risotto and cod roe pizza.
The other eateries include Menya Takeichi, one of Tokyo’s top chicken ramen restaurants (from $13.90); Kuro Maguro, featuring meshi (rice dishes) with seafood and tuna (from $18) air-flown from Japan; Tendon Kohaku, which is known for its Edomae-style tendon (tempura rice bowls, from $16.60); and Tokyo Sundubu, Japan’s largest chain to serve the collagen-rich Korean stew (from $15).
There’s also the Sora Bar if you’d like to sip on sake and cocktails or end your meal with desserts such as Hokkaido milk ice cream.
Other facilities at the dining hall include charging stations for electronic devices, a tatami seating area, and a kids’ corner with a playground and touchscreen games.
