Now you don’t have to drive to Johor Bahru for a bowl of the city’s famous assam laksa

Are you one of those weekend travellers who regularly descend upon Johor Bahru for deliciously affordable food? Perhaps now you’ll be making one less trip, since a famous assam laksa stall from KSL City Mall has just set up shop here in Singapore.

The Hougang Mall outlet of D’Laksa may not be the most convenient of locations, but at least you don’t have to weave through a traffic jam with your passport in hand to get your hands on a piping hot bowl of noodles. Opened just last month, the takeaway stall offers two items on the menu: assam laksa ($3.50) and fish balls in assam laksa soup ($2.50/five fish balls).

Once you purchase your generous bowl filled with rice noodles, mackerel fish, pineapple chunks, onions, cucumbers and prawn paste swimming in a flavorful broth, you’ll want to slurp it all down quickly before the noods get soggy (or before the tangy aroma distracts you from everything except your hunger pangs).

Now go forth and get it.

D’Laksa is at #B1-K7 Hougang Mall. Daily 10am-10pm.
