Put those New Year’s resolutions on hold because, for the first time, one of Taiwan’s most famous street food markets is coming to Singapore.
More than 30 stalls serving authentic and traditional food prepared by actual chefs and stall vendors from Taipei’s famed Ningxia Night Market will be at the Taiwan Food Festival starting Thursday on Sentosa island.
The festival will span Siloso Beach to Siloso Point through Feb. 9.
While visitors gorge on the delicious tastes of Taiwan, they will be entertained by a variety of performances from Friday onward. Local performers such as actor Wang Wei Liang, musician Ruth Kueo, Tay Kexin, and more will all take the stage.
Ningxia Night Market is over 40 years old and serves more than 130 different and authentic Taiwanese dishes. In 2018, more than 1.8 million people visited tried its iconic Taiwanese dishes such as the Egg-Bombed Scallion Pancake, Taiwanese Oyster Omelette, Fried Chicken Cutlet, Crispy Salted Chicken, and more. For just over three weeks, Singapore has no reason to fly to Taipei when some of its most exquisite street food comes to the Lion City.
Admission is free, but motorists must pay the Sentosa Island admission fee.
Instead of driving by private vehicle (S$2 to S$6), walking or biking there costs nothing. There’s also the Sentosa Express monorail (S$4 one way, S$2 with eligible concession card), public bus No. 123 (bus fare) and RWS8 Sentosa bus service (S$1 round trip). Or opt for the scenic route with a cable car from Mount Faber (S$33).
