Say what? You’ve never heard of Black Tap? The New York City restaurant that gave consumers a sugar rush a couple years ago when it debuted massive monster milkshakes? Well, unfortunately for our Ministry of Health, the war on diabetes will just have to take a backseat when the burger joint sets up shop at Marina Bay Sands this year.
Slated to open its doors to diners and their sugar cravings in the third quarter of 2018, the 150-seater restaurant takes over the space vacated by Carnivore Brazilian Churrascaria at the far end of the mall, where most people only trek to for bubble tea or 7-Eleven.
For those unfamiliar with the concept, Black Tap is an award-winning name co-helmed by the Michelin-starred Joe Isidori known for its classic burgers, craft beers and, of course, Instagram-famous CrazyShake milkshakes.
Such over-the-top milkshake creations aren’t exactly new to Singapore — we’ve seen them make appearances in cafes like Cake Spade and Benjamin Browns over the years — but hey, we’re not one to turn down an excuse to indulge.
On the menu here, expect to see Black Tap’s iconic burgers like the All-American, the Texan, and the Greg Norman, a popular option with wagyu beef, house buttermilk dill, blue cheese, and arugula on a potato bun.
Even if you’re not into carbs on meat on carbs, there’s the falafel burger and the teriyaki broccoli to keep things light for you. Sides include the likes of spicy Korean BBQ wings, hand-cut fries, and crispy brussels sprouts, while CrazyShakes come in crowd favorite flavors like cookie, cotton candy, and sweet n’ salty.
If you decide to give it a shot, expect to groove to ’90s hip-hop and ’80s pop while you take in your classic American luncheonette surroundings at the restaurant.
Black Tap opens in the third quarter of 2018 at L1-80, Bay Level, The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands.
