Modern and traditional hawker fare will be dished out side by side when the new Pasir Ris Central Hawker Centre opens in November, featuring 42 stalls in a 770-seater, two-storey space near Pasir Ris Park. On the ground floor, expect to see popular local cuisine from 20 stalls; while on the upper deck, you’ll find more experimental creations and atas twists on familiar favorites, as well as pop-up events like art markets, craft fairs and live music gigs.

NTUC Foodfare, which will be opening applications for food stalls from Sept 11 to 22, said in a media release that each hawker will offer at least two budget meals to provide affordable dining options for consumers. This means that you could spend $2.80 or less at stalls on the first floor — the second storey’s stalls will have budget meals that are priced similarly to the average prices of similar dishes sold in the area.

Besides this, all stalls will have to include at least one Healthier Choice meal under 500 calories on their menus. They’re also required to use healthier oil in their food preparations.

Set to be open daily from 7am to 10:30pm, the hawker centre will also encourage cashless payments via Plus! cards or Plus! Pay and DBS PayLah!, and diners will be expected to return their trays and plates after their meals.

If you’re interested in applying for a stall there, the application form (with a $10 fee) is available from Foodfare at Downtown East, Pasir Ris Elias Community Club and Pasir Ris East Community Club.
