Now that the year-end festivities are fast approaching, it’s time to stock up your pantry with bottles and bottles of booze. Luckily for wine enthusiasts, you’ve got one more online retailer to order from — besides your usual suspects like Wine Connection, Vinomofo, BottlesXO, or even Alcohol Delivery.
Launched just last week by a native Sicilian (and wine lover), Dellarosa Wine is the newest wine delivery service in town, offering a small but exclusively curated selection of organic, biodynamic, and natural wines. Think red, white, orange, and sparkling varieties from winemakers across Europe who use organic and biodynamic methods of farming to produce these sustainable wines.
If you’re not entirely sure how to differentiate between the three offerings, let us clue you in. For starters, organic wines are made from grapes that have been harvested without the use of artificial or synthetic chemicals to protect the crops. As for biodynamic wines, these go by the lunar cycle, and they’re regulated by a biodynamic calendar during the winemaking process — from planting to pruning.
Natural wines, on the other hand, are considered to be characterized by the least possible intervention during the winemaking process, with the omission of chemical yeasts, enzymes, reverse osmosis, and powdered tannins.
Only 19 bottles from 11 wineries across Italy and Slovenia are available right now, but the site has plans to introduce French and Serbian ones and expand the collection to 30 bottles by January.
If you’re keen to order a couple bottles, the good news is that the wines will be delivered within one working day; while the not-so-great news is that you’ll have to cough up a delivery fee of $13.
