As the newest kid on the nightlife scene, LuLu’s Lounge is looking pretty lavish. Inspired by the back alley clubs of ’60s New York, the dimly-lit space features fictional Bronx-born owner LuLu in elements of the club’s design, from the neon sign to the lipstick-stained napkins. Plush couches fill the interior, while the alfresco garden patio strung with fairy lights gives guests a bit of a break from the music and the crowd indoors.

If you’re bored of spending every weekend at Zouk or kyo, check out LuLu’s for cocktails and themed nights such as ‘Le Beat Bespoke’ boogie Wednesdays, ‘The Peppermint Party’ Fridays with old school hip hop and R&B, and ‘Cafe Bizarre’ Saturdays for a mix of hip hop and dancehall.

For the perpetually peckish, bar bites — served from 9pm to 2am — are rather standard here, so don’t expect too much. The menu includes truffle parmesan fries ($10), crab cakes ($12), wagyu beef sliders ($15), and cheese ($24) and charcuterie ($30) platters.

As for the drinks, dive into cocktails like Va Va Voom ($24) of Ilegal Mezcal, house-made grenadine, grapefruit soda and orange- and chili-flavored ice cubes; Whiskey Pucker Up ($25), a blend of Rebel Yell Whiskey, maple syrup, lemon juice and egg white (topped with a slightly tacky lipstick stain); or Big Coconuts ($24) of Reyka Vodka, kafir lime syrup and coconut cream.

We’d say go for the latter — ’cause anything coconuts-related, we love.
LuLu’s opens Apr 28 at Pan Pacific Hotel Singapore. Wed-Sat 9pm-6am.
